Buellton (Santa Barbara County, CA) Joint Replacement Center
Joint Replacement Hospitals of America proposes to build a specialty surgery center in Buellton, California – less than an hour outside of Santa Barbara – and work is currently underway. The facility includes an outpatient clinic with a medical imaging suite, a three operating room surgery suite, twelve in-patient recovery rooms and physical rehabilitation facilities.
The design of the building follows the guidelines shown in the Mission Revival style as outlined in the City of Buellton Community Design Guidelines. In particular, the thick walls with recessed windows provide a sense of permanence as well as providing solar shading on the glass, a series of large glazed arched openings create an arcade-like rhythm leading to the entry, generally simple volumes are accented by a larger slightly more detailed gable and tower at the entry. A projected open air entry and associated tower will be visible form McMurray Road providing visual connection to the community and to approaching traffic.
Proposed Location:
East of McMurray Road at Damassa Street
Buellton, CA 93427
Proposed Design (by Soderstrom Architects):
One third of the proposed 30,000 square foot building is comprised of an outpatient clinic. The clinic will operate during daytime business hours, Monday thru Friday. Patients will come to the clinic for pre-surgery diagnosis, exams, and imaging and for post operation follow-up visits.
The rest of the building houses the surgery center and associated recovery areas. Surgeries will be performed during daytime business hours Monday thru Friday. The recovery areas will be staffed twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.
